WHAT’S THE PENN HILLS RISING COMMUNITY CENSUS?

​The Penn Hills Community Development Corporation used American Rescue Plan Act funding to hire residents to reach out to every one of their 18,000 neighbors to see how they’re doing coming out of the pandemic, find out what they need in their homes, and learn what we can do to build a greater Penn Hills – together.

Research report on Single Family Real Estate Investment Trust (SFREIT) corporate purchases of Penn Hills owner-occupied homes & their conversions to rental units. This research was developed for the project by the University of Pittsburgh’s University Center for Social and Urban Research.

Outreach & Participation Mapping: where local physical appearance ranked lowest; where residents feel socially isolated & where residents want to volunteer to help; where residents don’t use local parks; where residents have traffic safety concerns; where residents have overall safety concerns; where residents want to participate in local civic or block groups; where the resident Community Corps went during their door-to-door outreach; and where residents responded across the Penn Hills community.
